Just after the 17-August-1999 Marmara Earthquake, killing 17,000 peoples and destroying 3 cities, DATAKOM started to work on earthquake detection and security systems. All the units integrate state-of-the-art semiconductor acceleration sensors with microprocessor controlled evaluation circuits. Digital signal processing techniques allow the filtering of non-seismic movements. The seismic properties of each unit is conformal to ANSI Z.21-70(1981) and ASCE 25-97 standards. The units are tested and approved by the Turkish Standards Institute and the Bosphorus University-Earthquake Engineering Department. They are considered as most reliable earthquake detectors on local market.
